License application process

The process to make application to the state of Florida for the initial license process is the following:

1. Cooke School recommends that, if at all possible, as soon as the student ecides to take the sales associate license course or the broker license course, the student should make application to the state. This can be accomplished by doing it on-line or printing the application out, having it notarized and mailing the application in with a check. The school recommends students make the application on-line because it is faster and the student can attest to the facts without having to have the document notarized, saving time and money. Students can pay the application payment on-line by credit card.

2. Complete the application as honestly as you know how. DISCLOSE ALL.
3. Applicant's Social Security number is required on the application.
4. The application fee to the state of Florida is $105 for Salesperson and $115 for Broker.
5. Your fingerprints need to be taken at a Pearson VUE Exam Center for ALL Florida applicants.  Reservations are necessary for this process.  Reservations can be completed by calling Pearson VUE at 1/888-204-6289 or 1/877-238-8232 making reservations on the Pearson VUE web site and selecting "Fingerprint Services".   The fee for the fingerprint process is $57.25 (Pearson VUE $15 and FDLE/FBI $42.25).  Here is the link to the Pearson VUE Exam and Fingerprints Centers in Florida. 6. Out of state applicants ONLY must receive a fingerprint card which can be obtained by calling the school at 800-943-9993. Take the card to your local police department and mail completed fingerprint card to: FL - DBPR c/o Pearson Vue, 3131 South Vaughn Way, Suite 205, Aurora, CO 80014. Must send cashier check or money order.
7. Take the required course.

DBPR Call Center

If you prefer you may call "The Call Center" in Tallahassee at 1/850/487-1395 and ask if you are approved.

Pearson VUE Call Center

Once the applicant is approved you call: 1/888/204-6289 or 1/877-238-8232. This number is for the test vendor Pearson VUE. This is the number you call to schedule your exam at one of the Pearson VUE's test centers.

The call centers hours are:
Monday through Friday: 8:00 A. M. to 11:00 P. M. EST
Saturday: 8:00 A. M. to 5:00 P. M. EST
Sunday: 10:00 A. M. to 2:00 P. M. EST

When you call Pearson VUE give them a Visa/MasterCard/Discover or American Express card to pay for the exam. The other option is to bring a money order or cashier check to the test center.

What to bring to the Pearson VUE Center?

1. The student needs to bring the Cooke completion certificate to the required course to the exam center not the "wall certificate".
2. You must bring two forms of identification to the center (one must be a photo ID), to gain access to the examination room.

Pearson VUE Schedule

At most sites there are two exam scheduled per day. One in the morning at 8:00 A.M. and one in the afternoon at 1:00 P.M.  Exams are scheduled Monday through Saturday. There are only a few locations that do evening exams and Pearson VUE does not promote it. So if that is necessary, you will have to ask for it.

What happens if I pass or fail?

• Pass :  Pearson VUE will give you your inactive real estate license.
• Fail:   Fail grades will include a reexamination application and a post examination review form.
